    Lemann Foundation Invites

    We initiated a series of meetings aimed at fostering reflection and in-depth discussion on contemporary issues critical to Brazil's social and development agenda. These meetings bring together experts, researchers, and committed leaders to discuss pertinent topics, with opportunities for public participation, including online streaming.

    In May, we hosted the inaugural session, which focused on Artificial Intelligence, featuring Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, as the main speaker.

    Aquilomba

    On the eve of our Annual Summit, we launched the pilot edition of Aquilomba, a gathering that convened members of the Black community from the Lemann Foundation Leaders Network. This event featured Siyabulela Mandela, activist and great-grandson of Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa.

    Annual Summit of the Lemann Foundation Leaders Network

    We gathered 420 leaders, including many from our Leaders Network, for three days of intensive dialogue under the theme “Our Connection Transforms Brazil“ (“A Nossa Conexão Transforma o Brasil“). The discussions spanned topics like “Connecting for Equity: Overcoming inequalities in Brazil“ (“Conexão para Equidade: Superando Desigualdades no Brasil “) and “Building Bridges: Dialogue on activism and social transformation“ (“Construindo Pontes: Diálogos sobre Ativismo e Transformação Social“), emphasizing the power of connections to drive change in Brazil.

    Lemann Foundation Invites: Second Edition

    The second edition of our dialogue series took place, featuring insights based on data and research, demonstrating that investing in Brazil's human potential is a pivotal force for national development. The session included distinguished speakers such as Joana Silva and Norbert Schady, economists from the World Bank, and Michael França from Insper's Center for Racial Studies (Núcleo de Estudos Raciais do Insper – NERI).

    National Seminar for Literacy

    Three months following the launch of the Commitment to Literate Children, state leaders from member states of the Collaborative Literacy Program (PARC), spearheaded by Associação Bem Comum, convened a national seminar.This event gathered representatives from 17 states, the Brazilian Council of Secretaries of Education (CONSED), the National Council of Secretaries of Education from Capital Cities (CONSEC), the Brazilian Municipal Education Directors Union (UNDIME), and the Ministry of Education (MEC).

    Lessons for the Global South on eradicating illiteracy

    In conjunction with the UN General Assembly in New York, Associação Bem Comum, supported by the Lemann Foundation, hosted “Eradicating Illiteracy in Schools in Brazil: Learnings for the Global South“ at the prestigious Harvard Club of New York City. This event assembled philanthropic organizations from Brazil and international governmental representatives to explore educational strategies relevant to countries facing similar challenges, highlighting PARC's effective practices.

    The Alcance Meeting, a free online event, was organized with the goal of motivating and inspiring Black and Indigenous individuals to pursue scholarships at the world's leading universities.
